    Secondary Site Still Pending...

How long should it take to create a secondary site?  I created one and its state is still showing as pending.

Which of the many log files would show me whats going on?  At this point it has not yet created the folder that I told it to install to.  (c:\program files\sccm)

    Re: Secondary Site Still Pending...

The sender.log got me going in the right direction, it seems to have been a problem with the credentils it was using to try and install on the secondary server.  Once I got that fixed, the flood gates opened and stuff started happening.

Now I think i'm having problems with an install that didn't go through all the way on the secondary server, the SMS_Bootstrap.log looks ok until I get to this point...

    Hi,

It seems to be problem with sender address. Did you check whether sender is configured correctly. Primary server (computer account)should have access on secondary server and vice versa.

is your secondary site server in same domain?

    Thanks and Regards

    Re: Secondary Site Still Pending...

It seems as though it is now installed on the secondary server, though it is still showing as pending in the Config Manager console on the primary server.  I thought it may just need some time before it changed so it has sat overnight like this.

On the secondary server I now see the following services:
SMS Agent Host - Started - Automatic - Local System
SMS Task Sequence Agent - not started - Manual - Local System
    SMS_EXECUTIVE - Started - Automatic - Local System
    SMS_SITE_BACKUP - not started - Manual - Local System
    SMS_SITE_COMPONENT_MANAGER - Started - Automatic - Local System
    SMS_SITE_VSS_WRITER - Started - Automatic - Local System

Both Servers are in the same domain, and the sender account is setup as a domain admin so it should have all the access it needs on both servers.

To me it looks like the secondary server is talking to the primary, here is a exerpt from the sender.log on the secondary server:

You shoudl only have 1 sender address per machine. having 2 will cause this. you can have multiple addresses, just nor senders.

    Re: Secondary Site Still Pending...

From the console on the primary site server I only have one entry under addresses and one entry under senders for the primary site.

That got me thinking though, does the secondary site server need to be added as a site system on the primary site server?

(BTW, Brian, Thanks for the config manager blogcasts, they were very helpful in getting up and running on the right foot)

    Re: Secondary Site Still Pending...

Got it!  I had to manually transfer the keys between the primary and secondary sites.  After that it took a little time, but it showed up as active.

    What was the problem?

Didn't you extend the AD schema?

    Re: Secondary Site Still Pending...

I think that the root of the problem was that the secondary site server didn't have enough access to the System Management container.  Even after manually exchanging the keys between the servers i was seeing the following in the hman.log on the secondary server.

    ********************************
