    SCCM Installation Issues

    I have done a new install of SCCM on one of my test servers, and I am running into a couple of issues - I'm not 100% sure if they are related or not, but I don't think they are.

     First, the Management Point is failing - I get an error that "Control Manager detected MPSetup has failed to create the CM_Incoming Virtual Directory."  The error code is 4963.  The possible causes are the IWAM duser account (which I checked), the IUSR account (which I checked), or something about the designated website is disabled in IIS.  I haven't changed that at all.

     Second, I'm trying (unsuccessfully) to install the CCM Client on the SCCM Server (or anywhere else), but it is failing.  The ccmsetup.log is:

    <![LOG[==========[ ccmsetup started in process 5024 ]==========]LOG]!><time="14:36:31.841+000" date="07-08-2008" component="ccmsetup" context="" type="1" thread="2196" file="ccmsetup.cpp:8853">

    Re: SCCM Installation Issues

    Ok, It looks like you are having an IIS related problem. Since your MP is having problems you are going to see these errors since it is trying to obtain the source files to install the client. Are you running in Native or Mixed Mode? Are you using a custom website instead of the default website? You may want to try uninstalling and reinstalling IIS. Since it can't create the Virtual Directory you are either using a custom website SCCM can't find or permissions on IIS are locked down where it can't create the Virtual Directory. Hope this helps. Re: SCCM Installation Issues

    The server is using the "Under Construction" page that comes with IIS.  I relocated the webpage from the default location to a directory on D, but I set the permissions on that directory to Everyone having Full Control.  I haven't tried the SCCM website yet, but it is (should be) the default one - I haven't changed it.

    So you just moved the INETPUB folder from the C: to the D:\? Any other modifications done to IIS? You didn't give the Default Website another name by chance?

    Re: SCCM Installation Issues

    I changed the home directory for the default site, and copied the entire INetPub folder, but other than that I haven't made any changes.  I did make sure that the anonymous user is the domain IUSR_hostname, not the local one.  When I access IE on another machine and point it to the server, I do get the "Under Construction" page.

    Re: SCCM Installation Issues

    Hmm.. I would still recommend doing a complete reinstall of IIS. Let it stay on the C:\ temporarily until you get a good install of the MP. Once it installs properly, uninstall the MP and move your INETPUB folder and try reinstalling.
