Hi, I have deployed SMS v4 but having issues while installing the client

    Hello,

I have installed SMS v4 in one of my DC and installation is OK. Also all prerequisite are met alongwith SQL2005 database. It is showing me all the features in SMS admin console.

Issue:-  I have configured each settings in all respective agent properties & client puch wizard. It is showing that client push is assigned to all clients however client are not getting installed. I have tried to install manually and it is working & under control panel-> system management icon, It is showing server site code etc. but it is not getting install on Site server. Also SMS console showing as no client are installed.

Error I am getting in 'ccmsetup.log' file is :-  "Installation failed with error code 1603"

Can anyone help me I guess I missed out somewhere or some issue is occuring to prevent the client installation.

    Thnx,

    Rajesh Parekh

1603 us a general fault I believe. When you look at the Systems Management program in the control panel, do you have all the Actions or only 2 or 3? If you have less, then you have a MP problem most likely. As for the client not installing... do you see this on ALL the clients you deploy or only some? Chances are that if you don't see clients installed in the console, you have a MP problem. Check the logs on the clients and see if you see any errors.

Note: I have noticed that in EVERY version of CM, the status messages can't be cleared and I don't think status reporting is 100% accurate.. You have to check the logs... Last, are you running in mixed or native mode? In native mode, a lot more can be problematic with certificates and SSL on your MP(s).

    Hi,

In System Management server, I can not see any icon in control panel but in client machine, it is created with all settings. Also it is running in Mixed mode with "Internet FQDN" parameter configured. On Client system under ccmsetup.log file, it is showing that "Failed to successfully complete HTTP request. (StatusCode at WinHttpQueryHeaders: 401)]LOG]!><time="17:19:49.127+000" date="03-20-2007" component="ccmsetup" context="" type="3" thread="1420" file="ccmsetup.cpp:5522">
    <![LOG[Sending Fallback Status Point message, STATEID='308'.]LOG]!><time="17:19:49.127+000" date="03-20-2007" component="ccmsetup" context="" type="1" thread="1420" file="ccmsetup.cpp:8821">
    <![LOG[Client is not in Native mode, IBCM is not supported.]LOG]!><time="17:19:49.158+000" date="03-20-2007" component="FSPStateMessage" context="" type="0" thread="1420" file="ccmutillib.cpp:1791">
    <![LOG[Client is on the intranet, therefore we will not use any webproxy.]LOG]!><time="17:19:49.158+000" date="03-20-2007" component="FSPStateMessage" context="" type="0" thread="1420" file="fsputillib.cpp:1217">
    <![LOG[Request failed: 503 Service Unavailable
    ]LOG]!><time="17:19:49.174+000" date="03-20-2007" component="FSPStateMessage" context="" type="3" thread="1420" file="fsputillib.cpp:1423">"

But it is showing each entry perfect in client machine under control panel but why it is not showing client installation in site server? Also these client are also not showing as Installed in site server. While I tried to configure site server role, MMC get closed but other role I can specified perfectly.

Request you to Pl help on this.

Re: Hi, I have deployed SMS v4 but having issues while installing the client

Let's focus on the server first. You say the icon is not there... but is the Systems Management program there? In my labs I have icon problems in every build on the servers, but the client is functioning. The client has to be running without errors on the server before clients can function...

    Hi,

yes, ystem management I have installed with SQL 2005 express edition. Also SMS database has been created and working fine. Under SMS admin console, in 'All Collections' tab where 10 systems are there are not showing as Clinet installed but it is only showing that it's 'Assigned' from last 1 week. I installed advanced client manually on 2 machines and found entry on client systems under control panel->system management icon, all site code, site mode etc are present. This same installation is not happening on my site server and it is only showing Assigned but not showing me that 2 desktops (Clients) are installed.

Can anyone please help me on this. I can use SMS more & unable to take any advantages of it. I have checked IIS and SMS-Reporting console is opening fine. Also running advance mode, I have moved SQL into Windows authentication mode only but still it is promting the error in Event viewer as below.

"SMS Unique ID from Client rejected because the file was signed but the authentication key did not match the recorded key for this client". How can I troubleshoot or resolve this issue?

ALso in Event I am still getting message that, "SMS Unique ID from Client rejected because the file was signed but the authentication key did not match the recorded key for this client". How can I troubleshoot or resolve this issue? My clients are now showing as installed including site server.

Well, it is hard to troubleshoot a new applicaiton especially when it's in beta. It seems that you have a certificate problem. Here is the only link I know of for setting up the PKI infrastructure.

Re: Hi, I have deployed SMS v4 but having issues while installing the client

Hi, Thanks for this info but however I tried to check for Microsoft certificate services (http://ca.microsoft.com/certsrv) is not opening saying host not found. I dont want to register through third party hence pl help if any other MS site available to perform this. Also approx. 700+ clients are showing installed in admin console including my Site server but while I go to control panel on site server, There is no "System Management" icon but same get created on client systems. How do i troubleshoot because in admin console, site server also showing agent installed. Due to this, I guess I am not getting any details & Inventory of any client or site server through "Resource Explorer"

You don't need 3rd party certificates. That link you specified does not work for me either. You have to create the certificates yourself. Check out the blogcast for How to install CM in Native mode. That should help.

Re: Hi, I have deployed SMS v4 but having issues while installing the client

    Hello,

Native mode dedicatedly need signing certificates & I am running in Mixed mode. In Mixed mode enviornment, Still I need certificates? Pl let me know if any other method can I do or configure my site server instead of certificates. I gone through documents but all in vain. Also one more thing I found in Event that 'Server locator point' gives error that "The operating system reported error 1060: The specified service does not exist as an installed service". I tried to run SLP setup manually but it is giving me error "There is not enough available disk space on to complete this operation. Installation requires at least 10MB free disk space" but I have 3 GB available.
