Moving exchange 2003 to a different OU

    Hi Everybody,

I get the following error almost every 15 minutes in my AppLog in exchange 2003 (BE), I got the message after i moved the exchange server from the default OU (computers) to a different OU as part of OU structuring.

I would appreciate if anyone can advice on how to fix this issue.

Re: Moving exchange 2003 to a different OU

You could try checking a few things that are generic with this error,

    firstly:

if you move the following Exchange Groups from the default location which is CN=Users to other OUs or that they dont acurately represent themselves :
Exchange Domain Servers (Security Group - Global)
Exchange Enterprise Servers (Security Group - Domain Local)
Exchange Services (Security Group - Global).

    you will get the 9188.

To resolve this, you have to move these 3 groups back to the default location which is Users OU, CN=Users and that they are represented acurately in AD.

    or secondly,

As per Microsoft: "This error indicates that the Group polling thread of the System Attendant Process (Mad.exe) was unable to read the membership list of the Group (mentioned in the Description section of the event). There are at least four variations of this event. The Description section of the event will have an Error Code, which indicates the underlying cause. Also, depending on which variation of this event is logged in the application log, the user might see a different symptom". See http://www.microsoft.com/technet/support/ee/transform.aspx?ProdName=Exchange&ProdVer=6.5.6940.0&EvtID=9188&EvtSrc=MSExchangeSA&LCID=1033 for more details on this event.

Please let me know if this helps.
