We r upgrading our all exchange server to SP2.

we have 2 FE and 5 BE(OS :-win2k3 )

I have also read the document on "upgrading SP2" but still i would like to know what care should i taken while upgrading to SP2.

We have some services are dependenet on Exchange servers like Blackberry, faxination and unity.

 What version of Blackberry Enterprise Server are you using? If it is recent you should have no issues there. I am not familair with compatability for Cisco's Unity or Faxitnation. Check their support sites. And always have a recent backup of your databases (including the SRS database if you are operating a mixed-mode site).

what is SRS database is it releated to exchange or Blackberry? Is it a service database.

I believe BES 4 is fine for the service pack. However, dont take shortcuts here. Go to each third party vendor's website and check what they support. Otherwise, they can deny you technical assistence in case anything goes wrong. This is crucial.

Abi - the SRS is the site replication service and it syncronizes active directory (via the active directory connector) with the Exchange 5.5 directory. If you have no Exchange 5.5 severs in your ORGANIZATION than you do not need to worry about it. If you do, then you should have an SRS in your site so when a new user is added or deleted from 5.5 (and vice-versa in AD) the change is replicated to the other system via the SRS and ADC.

we have all sever with exchange 2003 sp1.

yes, we are already contacted to BB, faxination and Unity vendor.

 

 

Upgrading Exchange 2003 to SP2 will not effect your Blackberry Enterprize 4.0, as long as your BB server is patched to SP4. we just did the same thing about a month ago. I brought BB server to the latest patches, a week later Exchange 2003 SP2. our enviremnt is simpler. 1 exchange box, 1 BB server. No FE or BE.

Did u face any issue while upgrading to SP2 or its a smooth one?

And after upgrading did u face any problem to BB users?
