Upgrading to Vista is a snap and anyone can do it. No need to pay someone to do the upgrade for you as long as you take some needed steps before the upgrade.

1. Verify your computer's hardware will run Vista

2. Remove any installed Anti-virus software before the upgrade.

3. Backup all your important files.

If you do forget to remove anti-virus software, the upgrade will still continue, but you will get an error. If you want to install Vista from scratch, click the link below.

When upgrading from Windows 98 to Windows XP, users had choice of a clean Windows XP installation (no OS installed). During the upgrade process, users were instructed to insert the Win 98 disk for product verification, before proceeding with the Windows XP setup. Will Windows Vista provide this same process, or most there be a Windows XP or Windows 2000 installed prior to proceeding, especially for the retail version of the OS?
