  • Image Deployment to seperate Partitions

I'm doing some experiments in the lab and i'm just curious if you might know the answer to this. Is it possible to deploy an OS image to a second partition by using the SMS (2003) client on the first partition. We have 2 partitions set up in the lab, one for general use and the second for specialized...

  • All Systems Not Appearing In Collection

I setup SMS just as the video said to. When i go to All Systems under collections i only see the two servers used and 2 out of the 10 workstations only show. I am not sure why only two show up because all of the work stations are in the same OU in active directory. Also the when pushing the client to...

  • Re: Managing clients in other domains

no trust = no SMS management of resources. As for WINS, it's not the solution you are looking for.... I know where you are going with that. You need AD security to make secure connections to client systems. Setup the trust and domain to domain works great. Forest to forest also works besed on a few certain...

  • Re: Advanced Clients not initializing.

Clients that only have 2 actions tell me that the MP is having issues. I would start there by reviewing the mpcontrol.log on the server. Since you do not have Active Directory, you must be either directly installing the client or using Network Discovery. Since your systems are "showing" as workgroup...

  • Re: Why...oh why.....

The padlocks you are talking about cannot be removed. The padlock means that SMS has simply discovered a subnet, nothing more. In Client push, do you have the checkmark box checked to do client push? I would uncheck it.... If checked, SMS will push out the client by itself. If unchecked, the only way...

One computer is Server 2003 with the latest service pack, running SMS 2003 SP3. My other 2 machines are running Vista and XP SP2. I followed your blogcast...

  • Re: Problems Problems

MOC courses can leave you with a bad taste sometimes. 1. In AD Users & Computers, find the System container and under that you will see Systems Management. Delete all records for the 001 site. When you do a client push, select advanced client, on the next tab select always install repair, and then...

  • SMS 2003 Does not Push Client to the Computers

I configured SMS following the video blog from Brian. Everything seems to work fine, except being able to push SMS installs out to remote machines (i installed one locally on the SMS server and it works fine). I get no errors when I try to push the install, however, ccm.log does not show that any install...
